Traveling Physical Therapist
(travels among our 3 clinics)

General Description
The primary responsibilities of this position are:

  1. Patient care and documentation.
  2. Directing the daily administrative operations of the clinic, which includes supervision and utilization of support staff.
  3. Marketing.
  4. Assuring that Clinical Benchmarks are attained and maintained.

Qualifications
It is preferred that this individual holds at least a bachelor's degree in physical therapy and have prior management experience. In addition, this individual must have strong leadership, marketing, computer, and customer service skills. A background in the area of coding and medical billing is also highly recommended.

  1. Communication/Customer Service:
    1. Greets all patients' will a big smile and hello.
    2. Handles incoming calls with superior customer service.
    3. Maintains a patient satisfaction system and reviews feedback, generates report, and action plan on a monthly basis. (See customer satisfaction questionnaire)
    4. Communicates with fellow staff members, physicians, third party payors, case managers, attorneys, and patients in positive, upbeat, efficient, and effective manner.
  2. Evaluation and Treatment:
    1. Therapist accommodates for walk-over patients 100% of the time.
    2. All patients will be scheduled within 24 hours of their initial call.
    3. Perform an average of at least 1-2 new evaluations per day.
    4. Responsible for treating an average of 10-15 patients per day.
    5. Responsible for re-evaluating each patient and updating goals at least every 30 days.
    6. Treat patients according to evidence based medicine.
  3. Documentation:
    1. Initial evaluations must be completed and a plan of care sent to the referral within 24 hours from the time the initial evaluation.
    2. Daily notes and charge tickets are to be completed and turned into the Billing Manager by the end of each day or before 8:30 AM next day.
    3. A Discharge Summary must be completed within 24 hours of the discharge.
    4. Patients not returning to physical therapy must be discharged no later than two weeks following their last visit.
    5. Quarterly chart review scores must exceed 85%, and maintains documentation of scores. (see chart review grading sheet)
  4. Administrative Duties:
    1. Monitors and assists in maintaining a no show call and cancel rate of 12% or less.
    2. Monitors and assists in maintaining clinical bench marks established at the outset of each year. Maintains (in conjunction with office manager) a spread sheet on a daily basis of vital clinical statistics to include:
      1. New evals – 21/month or 1-2 day
      2. Actual visits 210/month
      3. Patients visits per day – 10-15/day
      4. No show call and cancel rate – Less than or equal to 12%
      5. Walk-overs
      6. Physician referrals
    3. Prepares an agenda and runs 1 staff meetings per month. (Maintains documentation of meetings)
    4. Inventories and orders supplies necessary to run the clinic. All orders will be reviewed by CEO that exceed $100.00. Any more than two orders in a month must also be reviewed by the CEO. Perform these duties in conjunction with Office Manager.
    5. Participates in monthly clinical director meeting to review clinic benchmarks and other related issues. (see template for directors meeting)
    6. Reviews 1-2 policies from policy and procedure manual per staff meeting.
    7. Directs and grades the chart review process on a quarterly basis.
    8. Evaluates in conjunction with CEO the support staff on a yearly basis.
    9. Participates in the yearly clinic budgeting process.
    10. Maintains appropriate clinical staff and assists in training and mentoring.
  5. Professional Duties and Growth:
    1. Maintains a current PT license in KY.
    2. Maintains current AIDS training required for KY licensure.
    3. Maintains CPR certification.
    4. Maintains an updated resume at all times.
    5. Observes universal precautions at all times.
    6. Attends one professional meeting per year. (APTA/KPTA)
    7. Attends one continuing education course per year.
    8. Maintains a contract with a local university to take PT or PTA students on regular basis.
  6. Technology Skills:
    1. Operates windows based software programs to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic documentation/scheduling systems.
    2. Efficiently and effectively gains access to the Internet for information retrieval or research.
    3. Able to bring up, back up, and shut down all computer systems on a daily basis.
    4. Stays abreast of current technological trends that impact the medical profession and seeks training when appropriate.
  7. Marketing Functions:
    1. Markets the general public whenever possible.
    2. Two community services acts are carried out annually.
    3. A minimum of 5 marketing contacts must be made per month and documented on monthly clinical directors report.
    4. A quarterly marketing plan must be developed, carried out, and reviewed with CEO on a quarterly basis.
  8. Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
    This job requires walking, standing, squatting, overhead activities, lifting and carrying. Carrying on occasion may be up to 100+ pounds. Activities such as walking, sitting, working at a computer, talking on the telephone and reaching are activities that are constantly performed on this job. The work environment is predominantly indoors in a well-lit, ventilated area free of hazardous materials. Noise levels are minimal. A potential hazard is prolonged exposure to a computer terminal.

Open 5 days a week some days 8:00-5:00pm, others 9:00-6:00pm.
